Congratulations to Alex Frey of St. Joseph High School for defending his title as New Jersey State History Bee Champion, and congratulations to Patrick LeBlanc of High Tech High School for winning the Junior Varsity New Jersey State History Bee! Both titles were contested at Princeton University on February 25, 2012. Alex’s triumph is particularly noteworthy as he is the first student in over 80 separate Varsity and JV History Bees this year to receive a perfect score of 39 in the Bee prelims! Alex’s opponent in the last stage of the finals was his teammate Jason Hill, also of St. Joseph – the two also faced off in last year’s New Jersey State Bee final held in Ridgewood, NJ.
Congratulations as well to all 12 Varsity and 10 JV National Championships qualifiers – we hope you will join us in late April in Washington, DC and Northern Virginia! Thanks to Will Mantell and Greg Bossick for directing, to Andrew Ibendahl and Princeton’s quizbowl team for assisting with the tournament, and to all who came and participated in a great competition.
