Eastern Georgia

The Eastern Georgia History Bee and Bowl was held at Cedar Shoals High School in Athens, GA on Saturday, November 5, 2011, and it was one of the most exciting competitions we’ve ever seen. In the Varsity Division, Ricky Yoder, who would win the Bowl playing on his own for Wesleyan, took a lead in the prelims. But it was John Washington of Flowery Branch High School who came back in the final to win 5-4 in an exciting match that went back and forth until the end. Meanwhile, in the Junior Varsity Division, Nilai Sarda of Westminster became just the second middle schooler to win a JV Bee winning 5-3 in the final over John Butt of Prince Avenue Christian.
All participants will have another opportunity to play again (and to qualify for Nationals for those who didn’t here) at our Georgia State Championships on March 17, 2012 at Ola High School. They can also play on our C set at our North Florida and (likely) our Alabama tournaments too.
Congratulations to all participants on a great tournament! Full results will be posted soon.
